Claire Wilkinson ALM Pastoral Care My focus as ALM in Foxton is to welcome people to church on a Sunday morning. I am a point of contact for new people and visitors and someone that others can direct people to if they know someone new will be coming to church.
Jeremy Pymer ALM Social Awareness I work to foster social awareness within the Four Churches, mainly regarding social needs arising in the Benefice. I help in implementing our responses (made regardless of background) to those in need, including the most disadvantaged members of our communities. I have a long term interest in the Churches' role in encouraging social inclusion and community growth.
Liz Nottage ALM Worship Leading My role within the Benefice is primarily working with children and families in Fowlmere, where I lead Family Worship once a month at St Mary’s. I also lead Children’s Church on Sunday mornings and co-ordinate the team of helpers who run Messy Church on the first Wednesday of each month.
Sheila Andren ALM Pastoral Care As a Pastoral Assistant, I see my role as visiting in their homes or in hospital the elderly, unwell and bereaved of the Benefice. I can bring them friendship, a listening ear and prayer and Holy Communion as appropriate. I am now taking Holy Communion on a Sunday to Addenbrookes Hospital once a month.
Graham Titmus Licensed Lay Minister 2 Timothy 4 : 2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Lisa Turner ALM Administration My administrative role is across the benefice. During training, I was told that a good administrator just gets things done! My list of roles is potentially endless, and I am very happy for my work to be relatively unnoticed because I aim to support the rest of the work of the churches in our benefice to do what is needed.
I guess 'curate' speaks for itself - in training - assistant to the incumbent - right hand person. At the moment though, we are in interregnum so I am it. 'Cure' interestingly, was the old word for 'care' and the curate is the one who has the cure or care of souls in the place where they minister. In fact all ordained people are curates.
Maxine Pymer Music Ministry My role is to help co-lead St Mary’s Choir and support Iverna in her role as music Director. It is also to take God’s gifts of music and words using it to enable the congregation to have a better spiritual journey through a service. Music helps to shape and create different moods within worship finally sending out the People of God to witness in the wider community.
Cheryl Titmus Licensed Lay Minister My role as an LLM is to preach, teach, and lead worship, as well as to be involved in other areas of ministry and mission. I lead and preach at two Family Services a month - Thriplow and Shepreth. I have been trying to discover where God may be leading me as an LLM in my ministry. I have a heart to reach out to children and young families in different ways and to those who may not come to church for various reasons. This links in with my role as Chaplain at Thriplow School where I have a pastoral role to the whole community - church, children, staff and parents and in forging a stronger link between the church and school.
Jeremy Murray ALM Administration To assist the Rector with all administrative and financial matters, as required, and to offer assistance, when asked, to those in the Four Parishes of the Benefice.
Barry Love ALM Worship Leading My role as an Authorised Lay minister for Worship is to assist the incumbent and currently the Curate and the church wardens at Fowlmere. I can assist in worship and assist as required. I will be helping with outreach, as invited and with the next Pilgrim Course.
Pat Houghton ALM Worship LeadingI originally signed up for the ALM course, specifically to help with Worship Leading, when I saw my role as leading family services at Foxton. By the time I had finished the course, Linda was the incumbent, and subsequently Trudie became her curate, and both of them were adept at family services, so I simply was not needed. There was, however, need for help with Mattins, so I was happy to fit into this slot, and still am.
