The forty days of Lent does have its celebratory moment!
The fourth Sunday of Lent is called Refreshment Sunday but much better known as Mothering Sunday. It is a time of refreshment in the more prayerful season of Lent, a time to celebrate! It is when we celebrate ‘mothering’ as an ideal of what it is to mother and be mothered. This year the Benefice will be coming together in a Four Church Celebration All Age Eucharist at St Laurence’s, Foxton.

A training session is to be held for everyone who would like to help with the intercessions at our regular weekly services.
We would like more people to feel able to lead intercessions and we know that a number of people in each of our churches are very capable of doing so but may be lacking in confidence. This initial session will provide guidance and support on how to prepare for and lead our prayers.
The session is held in the Dorothy Pluck room on the above date. Please contact Trudie if you would like more information, or are interested but unable to attend on this occasion.
Informal acoustic concerts in our lounge, played by professional musicians. These are usually singer/songwriters, who are Christians, and our desire is both to support them and to share with others the music we greatly enjoy. They proclaim the gospel in a gentle way through their songs. It is a lovely and quite different way to experience live music, in the setting of someone’s home, and we warmly invite you to join us and to bring friends with you.
These artists perform for their livelihood - we cannot sell tickets but usually suggest a donation of around £10/person, or what you can afford. Refreshments are included, served in the interval, and the artists usually have CDs for purchase, should you want to. We aim to have a variety of people; Gareth Davies-Jones (www.garethdavies-jones.com) is a singer/songwriter who comes regularly. Our first concert of 2014 will be Rob Halligan, on Friday 24th January at 7.30 (www.robhalligan.co.uk). Please contact us on 01223 870613 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, to reserve your seat.
We would like to give you a warm welcome, please join us!

Pilgrim is a major new teaching and discipleship resource from the Church of England that explores what it means to travel through life with Jesus Christ.
A course for the twenty-first century, Pilgrim offers an approach of participation, not persuasion. Enquirers are encouraged to practice the ancient disciplines of biblical reflection and prayer, exploring key texts that have helped people since the early Church.
Pilgrim is made up of two parts: Follow and Grow. Follow introduces the Christian faith, while Grow aims to develop a deeper level of discipleship.
Assuming little or no knowledge of the Christian faith, Pilgrim can be used at any point on the journey of discipleship and by every tradition in the Church of England.
‘The Pilgrim course is a journey to the heart of God and to a living, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.’

Don't forget, all our churches have a loop system for hard of hearing. Just switch your hearing aid to 'T' (Telecoil) to tune into the sound system.
